This Dell XPS gaming laptop was booked in with us for repair recently, because it was randomly freezing and shutting down. Due to the fact that it was designed for high end gamers, the first thing that was worth taking a look at, was the Dell XPS’s hard working GPU.

Thankfully, on laptops designed for gaming, the GPU, or graphics card, is a separate board, which is much easier to replace if you want to upgrade your graphics card, or replace a faulty one. On this particular Dell laptop, one of our engineers noticed that the graphics card was damaged beyond repair from excessive heat (something gaming laptops can be prone to), and needed to be replaced. Thankfully, we were able to replace the graphics card (and upgrade it to a newer model), and the hard drive, which was also failing, in a few hours, with a full 6 month warranty.
