Now that the current generation of consoles have been around for a couple of years, it's fair to say that it is now that problems will start cropping up with them. In our last generation, there was a well documented problem with the Playstation (and Xbox), that we called the YLOD (yellow light of death), which was to do with the heat of the console causing problems for the GPU chip's connection with the board of the Playstation. When the PS4 was released, we all held or breath hoping that the days of this issue were over, and that this would not be a problem anymore.
Unfortunately, I can tell you that this is not true, and that we are starting to see more and more not working PS4 consoles that have an almost identical fault. Over the past 12 months, we were starting to get only a few PS4 GPU issues here, but in recent times, this number has grown considerably. It's not all bad news thankfully, as our engineers can repair the PS4 motherboard problem, and have the dead PS4 back up and running in no time.
